RFID isolation solutions
Over the last decade, RFID (Radio frequency Identification) has emerged as the most mature technology solution to address multiple retail challenges. RFID has been a game changer, a productivity and automation tool for retail inventory management and asset tracking. It gives retailers access to real time data for the products on their shelves allowing them to manage ERP better. This also helps them make informed decisions about pricing and stock needs, in addition to identifying reasons for shrink. Incorrect tracking due to any physical parameter such as transmittance, back scatter, cross talk of RFID leads to incorrect and erroneous data capture which defeats the purpose of RFID tracking. Therefore, the need of RFID isolation systems that can effectively record wanted information, while excluding the signals of unwanted ones. This can be challenging in a fast moving and rugged commercial environment.
RFID shielding solutions by Brightsandz
Brightsandz® RFID solutions are highly effective at restricting RFID transmission, cross-talk and back-scatter, helping retailers isolate store sections from systemic errors. Our RFID solutions allows retailers to maximize the effectiveness of ERP, inventory, and warehousing management by preventing RFID transmission from penetrating the walls and doors. It also saves on time and automation of customer processes and operations.
How Brightsandz is partnering the largest retail company in India in RFID readiness for its flagship stores
A classic case study of RFID
isolation was to limit the RFID signals penetrating the partition boards in
trial rooms of one of the largest Indian retailers. The idea is to make the
retail experience better by showing real time feed of the merchandise that the
customer has chosen when he/she enters the trial room. Therefore, every
individual customer gets specific merchandise information and bill estimate for
his purchases only. Otherwise, the customer ends up seeing superfluous
information about material which he has not picked, but is in the adjacent
dressing room or even on the shop floor.
The use of Brightsandz® RFID
solutions in lining the wall of these trial rooms would prevent RFID
transmissions between adjacent trial rooms, merchandise sections, store rooms
from interfering with each other. Therefore, the floor process for every
customer as well as every product would be distinct, defined, and accurate for
each area of the store.
Another case study for the shielding composite application are the RFID self-check-out kiosks/bays. Most retail floor plans cluster check out bays together. RFID interference and cross talk at this time can lead to bogus billing of merchandise. This in turn can cause customer dissatisfaction, disputes, process disruption and loss of productive time at the check-out bays. Brightsandz® RFID shielded composites ensure process sanctity by ensuring that the check-out kiosks are isolated, and there is a no RFID transmission back and forth between different bays.
